What is it?
ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment from Kate Somerville
What does it do?
According to Sephora, Exfolikate is “a dual-action exfoliator that smooths and polishes to reveal a glowing, radiant complexion in as little as one use.”. It’s a solution for dullness and uneven texture, pores, dark spots and uneven skintone. It helps deep-clean clogged pores without drying the skin, smooth skin and reveal a brighter complexion. It is both a physical and an enzymatic exfoliator.
Feeling frustrated with my dry skin, I went to Sephora in search of a moisturizer that would solve my problems. Odd enough, I left the store with an exfoliator! This concept really didn’t make sense to me. If I had dry skin and I used an exfoliator, wouldn’t that irritate my skin even more? Once I started using Exfolikate, I began to realize how it actually worked.
My old dry skin on the surface was preventing any moisture from sinking in deeper. Once I exfoliated my skin and removed the dead skin cells (sounds gross, I know) my skin became brighter, more hydrated and I noticed that it even helped fade acne scars! For best results you should use it 2-3 times a week, but I typically use it once every week while I’m in the shower. Don’t use this product if you have sensitive skin; it’s a chemical exfoliator and it will hurt if your skin is already sensitive (trust me!).
Yay or Nay?
This product is a yay for me because it helped solve some of the skincare problems I had. My biggest problem (dry skin) was the result of me not regularly exfoliating. Once I started using an exfoliator that worked great for my skin I noticed immediate results and extra benefits I wasn’t expecting too (brighter skin and faded acne scars). This is a pretty intense exfoliator though, and although I give it a yay, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin. But, Kate Somerville does have another exfoliator in her line intended for those with more sensitive skin and I would highly recommend giving it a whirl!
