Alright friends – it’s that time of year again! Truth be told I feel like the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is different every time. So let me give you the run down before we get into the cute clothes!
The 411
This year Nordstrom is giving priority to Icons and Ambassadors. I had zero clue what that meant, but I assumed it had to do with how much people spent each year. Ambassadors spend more than $5,000 a year, but it’s unclear how much Icons spend. It’s an invite-only status that Nordstrom gives to “only our most valued cardmembers”. So let your imaginations run wild with how much someone would have to spend to be on that level!
Anyways – for those of us who are card members but haven’t spent at least $5,000 at Nordstrom within the last year, welcome!
We can shop the leftovers early access starting on July 12. Online starts at 12:30 p.m. EST (or 9:30 a.m. for those of us on the west coast) and my local Nordstrom opens up bright and early at 8 a.m. that day. So if you went in person, you’d have an advantage this year by 1.5 to 3.5 hours depending on where you live. I get them wanting to drive traffic to the stores, but I preferred when the online shopping started at midnight.
If all that confuses you, I get it. It confused me too. If I were you and you were concerned you might miss out on something you LOVE – call your local Nordstrom and see what time their actual store opens. It might be easier to shop from the comfort of your home. BUT if you go in person and can’t snag that cozy cardigan you reallllly wanted, you might still be able to grab it online!
BOLD is in!
Whether it’s a bright pop of color, mixing fun patterns, animal prints, or all together – bold is the word! As someone who likes having a statement piece, but remains pretty neutral overall, I was a little intimidated by this year’s catalog. I really had to look at individual items to start to see my everyday basics that I love.
These are my faves from what I’ve seen so far, but I’m sure there will be plenty more once the sale is live! Be sure to check back, I’m going to be adding items as we go rather than uploading multiple posts like last year.

Cardigans/Jackets
My all time favorite cardigans are the ones from Madewell and Barefoot Dreams! Feeling cozy is essential for living in Washington – especially in the fall. I have way too many moto jackets to count, they’re my favorite way to dress up an outfit! I’ve linked some of my faves from Blanc NYC in case you wanted to add some to your collection.
Tops/Sweaters
I wear these on the DAILY in the fall/winter. You’ll normally find me in a cozy sweater, my favorite pair of jeans and some cute boots! Although I have plenty, I feel like you can never have too many cute tops and sweaters!
Athleisure
I about died when I saw these baby pink Zella leggings! Normally I associate lighter colors with spring and deeper colors with fall, but I’ll take these pastels any day!
Dresses
I practically live exclusively in dresses in the summer – especially at work! My fall dress supply is pretty sparse, and these options would definitely spice up my closet on a cold day!
Pants
This is a great time to stock up on basic jeans and pants – amazing quality at an incredible price!
Shoes
Even when your closet is completely full, you can never have too many shoes! Booties go perfect with pretty much any fall outfit, so you know you’ll get a lot of use out of them!
Accessories
THIS BRIGHT YELLOW PURSE. So joyful! I think living in Seattle has made me crave the sun more, but I’m obsessed with this happy color!
Beauty
I was SO excited when I saw this Pillow Talk lip set from Charlotte Tilbury! It’s probably my most used lipstick – it’s a great neutral pink and goes with every makeup look. The anniversary sale beauty sets are an easy way to find amazing deals on products you love! I always find myself stocking up on things I know I’ll use – like the hairspray set from Drybar!
My Wishlist
Now that you’ve seen some of my faves, here are the things I’m hoping to get during the sale. Honestly I’m a pretty basic gal, and I find that I get a lot of wear out of the pieces I get from the sale! For me, it’s a good time to stock up on clothes I can wear to work – tops, sweaters, shoes and pants! With a few statement pieces in between!
